Christopher Powell
Originally from the Los Angeles area, Chef Powell has been delighting the taste buds of San Diego's diners for over a decade. He was trained at the celebrated, Western Culinary Institute, in Portland, Oregon, and now focuses his talent and skills to create delectable, new dishes that augment and enhance Aqua Blu's already extensive menu.
As a young boy, Christopher often accompanied his father, a representative for a major soft drink manufacturer, on business calls to various dining establishments. It was on these visits to both fine restaurants and blue-collar eateries that he learned to understand and appreciate the diversity of traditional and ethnic cuisines, as well as to develop a desire to create great dishes of his own.
After graduating from WCI, Chef Powell performed his internship at the prestigious Hotel del Coronado. During this period, he carried out duties in all areas of restaurant operation from baking to banquets. Exposure to this level of food preparation was a motivational inspiration, and Christopher Powell was soon confident that he had found his true calling.
Chef Powell possesses an artful command of conventional recipes, but is also heavily influenced by Hawaiian chef, Dave Abella, which has helped him to become a master of Asian fusion and Pacific Rim preparations. He prides himself on being resourceful, and incorporates a variety of eclectic elements into the concept and creation of new dishes.
Thanks to the innovative spirit and pragmatic expertise of Executive Chef, Christopher Powell, Aqua Blu continues to maintain and expand its reputation for being one of the finest restaurants in town.
