Sustainable Seafood Week Hits San Diego

This March, the San Diego Oceans Foundation is hosting Sustainable Seafood Week, a yearly event that encourages diners to frequent local businesses that practice seafood sustainability. Since 1984, the San Diego Oceans Foundation has been a volunteer focused organization aiming to educate the public on protecting the ecosystem and marine life, as well as inspire solutions for a sustainable future. During the week of March 10-15, 2013, many of San Diego’s esteemed restaurants will be donating proceeds from certain sustainable dishes to the organization. Check out the list of participating venues below and pick one or spend a night at each!

George’s California Modern

What better way to support seafood sustainability than to sit seaside while enjoying creative Californian cuisine? This year, George’s California Modern will be donating 15% of proceeds from the sales of Grilled Local Sardines and Pacific Oysters to the San Diego Oceans Foundation. Featuring cedar, marinated mussels, Aroi Ika, wild fennel, and whipped cream, the Grilled Local Sardine appetizer will satisfy the appetite and contribute to a good cause. Well known for scenic ocean views and a seasonal menu using fresh, local ingredients, George’s California Modern is the place to be during Sustainable Seafood Week!

Blue Point

The first seafood and oyster bar in the historic Gaslamp Quarter, Blue Point remains dedicated to serving the finest seafood dishes. In honor of Sustainable Seafood Week, Blue Point will donate 20% of Faroe Islands Salmon sales to the San Diego Oceans Foundation.
