New York Steak Alla Pizzaiola
A Vitale original family recipe, New York Steak Alla Pizzaiola, is a Southern Italian dish that packs a whole bunch of flavor. Restaurant owner Salvatore Vitale suggests the dish be served medium rare as to keep the steak juicy and tender. Enjoy this dish at your kitchen table with your family as the Vitales do in their home on Sundays. Toss in a full bodied Cabernet or a Nero D'Avola and you're set for a meal of epic proportion, flavor, and deliciousness.
Cook Tip: Add salt and pepper to your liking

Recipe
Ingredients
- 16 oz. Prime cut New York Steak
- 2 Tbsp. Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 1-2 Garlic Cloves
- 5 Roma Tomatoes, Diced
- 1 tsp. Flat Leaf Italian Parsley, Finely Chopped
- 3/4 tsp. Fresh Oregano
Directions
Charbroil the steak on a hot grill for 5- 6 minutes allowing each side to cook to a nice medium rare, however, you can adjust this depending on how well done you prefer your steak to be. Next, while the second side of the steak is cooking, heat the olive oil in a small pan and add the garlic, tomatoes, Italian parsley, and salt and pepper to taste. Saute this mixture for 2-3 minutes. Plate the steak, and spoon on the pizzaiola sauce and dust the top with fresh oregano.
Note
Sal and his family like to serve this dish with a twice baked potato and baby asparagus.
