After reading all the good reviews, this restaurant was a big disappointment. There was no one to seat us when we walked in, and the wait staff ignored us. The food was mediocre and over-priced given the quality.

Still looking. This restaurant was about 30 minutes from where I live, but I read good reviews about it and thought it might be worth the drive. The bottom line is that everything about this place is average. Nothing was really that bad. It's just that nothing was really good. Just very average. My chicken dish was very tasty, but the chicken was chewy. My wife had pasta and she said it wasn't bad, but didn't have much flavor. Lastly our desert tasted like it was from Trader Joe's freezer. Definately NOT home made. Didn't taste horible, just not that good. All in all I could have given it a positive review if the price was 1/2 of what we paid. But for what we paid, the food should have been much better quality.

Very nice atmosphere, except for the hum of traffic outside the front door. The restaurant is on Garnet, very busy road ! The ravioli was excellent, as was the linguini w/ clams and the gnocchi. Bread and marinara was tasty, but we had no room for dessert.

When we walked into the restaurant we were greeted with wonderful smells, many of the guests were speaking Italian. At that point, we smiled at each other and knew we were in the right place. The server provided the right balance of anticipating our needs yet did not hover. Each of us had a different entrée, all were superb and included: ravioli; saltimbocca; gnocchi; and risotto with sausage and artichokes. We ordered a bottle of Sangiovese which was well suited for our meals. We all ordered desert and enjoyed panna cotta, tiramisu, and cannenoli. The most unusual desert was ice cream that included a shot of espresso over the top. Finally, as advertised it is a neighborhood restaurant, comfortable and not pretentious. We will compare this dining experience and the food to all future Italian restaurants and are sure Caffe Bella Italia will come out on top. Thanks to the chef and the waiters for a great experience.

I wanted our last night in San Diego to be a bit romantic so I chose Italian. The restaurant was everything I had hoped for: dim lights, great wine selection, wonderful menu with lots of variety. Service was perfect as she didn't rush us on any course of the meal. The appetizers were hot and very fresh, main course had exceptional flavors and the desert was light and creamy. The owner/manager greated us at the door as we left to find out how our evening went. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves Italian food.

Title: Wonderful Authentic Italian - Review: Perhaps my favorite Italian place in San Diego. Family owned and fantastic European atmosphere. I highly suggest you try the butternut squash ravioli with lemon poppyseed sauce. Best to go on Wednesdays and Sundays when the bottles of wine are half off. I could rave about this restaurant forever! Can't wait to go to their new restaurant in Point Loma...Solare!

Title: Best in Pacific Beach - Review: This is a wonderful hideaway in Pacific Beach. Very cozy, laid back but upscale dining. Wonderful, attentive service and excellent food. Perfect for couples to share a romantic dinner. This is by far my restaurant so far in San Diego!!
