Roppongi Restaurant & Sushi Bar
Address: 875 Prospect Street, La Jolla, CA 92037 (Map)
Seated among the swank décor, cool lighting and plush booths at Roppongi’s, there’s no shortage of delicious delights. A typical evening might begin with a Sake-tini and a bite from Sushi Chef’s Shinji Okano’s sushi bar like the Albacore Jalapeño Roll. Next, the Asian tapas menu offers a seemingly endless selection of small dishes as varied as traditional chicken satay and shrimp and scallop potstickers with tobiko caviar sauce. The dinner menu is equally tantalizing, filled with Chef Stephen Window’s unique “new Asian cuisine” creations. Sommelier Megan Burgess presents an extensive award-winning wine list that is as varied as Chef Window’s cuisine, and desserts like Tahitian Bananas offer a decadent conclusion.

Restaurant at The Pearl
Address: 1410 Rosecrans Street, San Diego, 5 92106 (Map)
A contemporary, uber-cool interior and décor mirror a chic California-coastal inspired kitchen in Point Loma at the Restaurant at The Pearl. Chef Jaison Burke allows his passion for local ingredients to peruse your palate with a slight French flair. Eclectic dishes come from a variety of regions across the U.S including a magnificent Mac & Cheese made with Spring Hill Cheddar to start while the Grilled Pork Chop with potatoes, apple chutney and fresh farmers market veggies would be a solid main course. Whether you’re dining inside or by the pool, in a cabana or beach chair, weekly movies are shown outside on a 10-foot by 13-foot screen from The Pearl’s private collection. Seating is first come, first serve so make sure to get there early for happy hour and for the movies and enjoy wonderful wines and specialty cocktails. Dinner is served 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. daily and drinks are poured until 11 p.m. during the week and midnight on Friday and Saturday night. Whether it’s for a meal or a movie, the Restaurant at The Pearl is the place to be.
