How to Apply
Important: If you are not willing to complete all steps in the application process, including reading the review guidelines, visiting a restaurant (on your own time and at your own expense), and writing a sample review, please do not apply.
Step 1: Fill out the Sign Up form below to create an account for our online Writer's Center.
Step 2: Read our assignment guidelines and select one restaurant from the list of available Standard Assignments.
Step 3: Complete and submit your sample restaurant review. You will have two weeks to complete the assignment according to our Guidelines, and to submit all completed components of your assignment for approval.
Step 4: Approval. If your sample review is approved you will be granted Silver Level Status and you will be able to select a new assignment from the list of available Standard and Featured Assignments!
Criteria
To write for San Diego Restaurants.com you must meet the following criteria:
- be at least 21 years of age
- have your own reliable transportation
- have no dietary restrictions or aversions to foods, ingredients or cuisines
- have a strong understanding of food and wine
- be able to accurately and effectively describe tastes, textures, color, mood, and ingredients, in an entertaining and informative way
- be comfortable interviewing chefs or other members of the restaurant staff when asked
- be able to accurately write up recipes using information provided by chefs
Important: The responsibility of writing for our website includes eating and writing about a variety of dishes and ingredients, across a broad range of cuisines. We are unable to consider candidates who have an aversion to any foods or who cannot or will not eat certain ingredients, foods prepared a certain way, or dishes of a specific cuisine. We respectfully ask that you do not apply if you are not willing to eat any dish at any restaurant.
