Best Prime Rib I've Ever Had
I can't believe someone had a bad expericene at Fiddler's Green. If Fiddler's has a "fault" it's that there is someone everywhere you turn asking how your meal or drink is and ready to "fix it" if something is wrong. Steve the owner is there almost every minute the resturant is open, socializing and ensuring everything goes well.
As for the food... I've been around the world and Fiddler's has the ABSOLUTE BEST prime rib I have ever tasted, followed closely by the Alaskan King Crab Legs and then the Seafood Pasta. The ambiance and especially the "fire ring" and the entire nautical theme make the entire dining experince excellent!!!
Add kid friendly and the entertainment on weekends and you will have the best dining experience in all of Point Loma.
Great Steak
Best sirloin.
Great family atmosphere. Home to San Diego sailing traditions.
AT
Wonderful food/Great prices
My husband and I dined there this evening, and we were very impressed with the quality of food, portions and the prices. My husband had the prime rib (Callahan cut)it was about 3" thick, and practically hung over the plate, it was not only the biggest cut of prime rib he had ever seen, but also the best tasting. I had the Alaskan king crab legs, and they were huge and incredible tasting. Dinner included bread, soup or salad, potato or rice, and vegetables. We only had soft drinks, free refills, and our bill was under $70.00! The owner made it a point to check on every table, several times, to make sure everything was OK. It was very busy, even for a Tuesday night, so make a reservation. The kitchen is exposed, so you can see your dinner being cooked. Very relaxed atmosphere and nautical themed. Needless to say we look so forward to going back to this wonderful restaurant very soon!
Best in San Diego
Saw Amy's review and had to think she was across the street and not At Fiddler's Green. I have been a Local regular customer for over five years. I am single and eat out five nights a week, two of them a Fiddler's and have always had the best Food and service available in San Diego. The prices are fair and the food is fresh, none better at twice the price!!!!
Wonderful Dining Experience
I was impressed from the moment I walked in. I loved the atmosphere and the interesting way the tables were laid out. The food was wonderful. My husband had the double-thick pork chop, I had the coconut shrimp. The food was cooked to perfection, and our waitress was friendly and attentive. We look forward to eating here again. Loved it!
Great steaks, good wine
A good place for locals or visitors. Quiet, inviting, cool in summer, with a nice fire in the winter. Good steaks and prime rib, excellent shrimp cocktail, good service. Here's an "insider" secret: the house-label wines are excellent, as good as anything on the menu.
Good service, great portions
My wife and I dined there last night. She had an excellantly prepared nY Strip and I had double cut pork chops that were fantastic. It was our first visit to this restaurant, but not our last.
poor management
I enjoyed a fine meal at this establisment recently. However, when I
included my gift certificate as part of
payment, the waitress returned to tell
us her manager informed her they do not
accept the certificates for early bird
priced meals. However, we could apply
them toward the other meals purchased.
After several minutes, again, the waitress returned to inform us they could only be used for 2 full priced meals, not a childs meal ordered. The
manager lacked the concern to explain it herself, and the waitress did not understand the policy.
Time for Kitchen Nightmares !!
I am not hard to please, really I'm not. This place was a JOKE! Just a few comments...
1. Server was rude and a total moron.
2. Busboy (maybe 16 y/o, MAYBE) was hammer drunk. No, seriously.
3. Food was horrible, nothing was even close to fresh. Everything was heat and serve.
4. Way over priced.
5. Looked like a senior center cafeteria... tasted like it as well.
Someone needs to call Gordon Ramsay quick!!! This restaurant is in serious need of some help... Kitchen Nightmares indeed. Outback steakhouse would even put this place to shame. They should close down and save whatever dignity they have remaining.
Out of a box??
My husband and I were discussed by the food at Fiddler's Green, I don't know if we went on a bad night or what happened. The shrimp that he ordered looked and tasted straight out of the freezer section. My salad was okay but the dressing had huge globs of bacon fat in it and the crab cakes I ordered were burned on one side and cold on the other. The food was expensive, our server left us waiting more than once, the hostess sat and read a book...we live down the street and we will never go back. I am surprised by the other reviews...
frozen food
It definetly is over priced cafeteria food. The people giving good reviews must be related to the owners. I had what was supposed to be Ahi. It was compressed, preserved frozen junk. They did take it back and remove it from my bill. BRAVO. You just can't promise fresh fish and serve whatever you want. The atmosphere is great, if you are 75 years old and have a liking for cafeterias in Boca Raton.
Who hired these folks to post a pos review? REALLY
Im sorry but Im having a hard time believing these good ratings. Either these people dont have a clue what quality food is or they were paid to post positives on VERY EXPENSIVE food should taste like. WOW! This was by FAR the worst food I have ever experienced at a restaurant! Our first clue was the nasty clam chowder. I was shocked when we sampled it. I asked for a sample first because clam chowder is one of those iffy things and Im glad we asked for a sample. It tasted like mold and just a plain white cream roux before you add the spices...absolutely horrible. My mother and I were shocked thinking this place would have a clue on how to make clam chowder. My mother ordered the coconut shrimp which was obviously frozen and flavorless. What a joke especially for the price. My daughter had the shrimp linguini. It was like they pored bacon grease over it, it was shinny and slimy. My daughter couldn't eat it. I didn't order anything because my gut feeling told me not to because of the repulsive moldy tasting clam chowder. You should have seen what it looked like after the grease cooled down. It looked like bacon grease after it sets. You could take a spoon and drag it through it as it piles up on the spoon. I brought home a to go box full of it so I could take a picture. I wish I could post post it so you can see. Im sending this to the the owners because it was just plain ridiculous. and posting on every restaurant review site possible. We should have demanded our money back but we are too nice and like the waitress. Only pay attention to the the low star ratings please unless you will be brave enough to ask for your money back.
