The best sushi for your $ in SD
Unique menu from a great chef! They have rolls you won't find anywhere else. Not only is the sushi fresh, but you won't pay 'downtown' prices for it!... good thing I only live down the block :)
Best Sushi!
Excellent sushi and friendly service.
Great Lemon Rolls...so so service
We have eaten here many times and found the food to be great, and the service to be pretty average. Below average on occasion. Unlike the other reviewer, we have eaten there many, many times and we were never rushed out and I wonder if they were having some problem in the restaurant that the reveiwer did not know about (life does happen to all of us), but we have found that they are not very upbeat, so you need to bring the party with you! Not rude, just not service oriented. But the food is wonderful. We have been to Japan and have other favorite suhi restaruants in town, but keep ending up back here. The lemon rolls are magnificent and not many places have sukiyaki on the menu, so that is a bonus for your friends who don't want to eat sushi and are not terriaki fans. Anyway, don't let the bad review keep you from trying the lemon rolls and enjoying the clean and casual attmoshphere here. The chef will also make rolls as you like them, and thats a perk too. PS. The sushi chefs are very upbeat, so if you are looking for more attention, sit at the bar.
Not good at all
Had one of the worst sushi experience at this restaurant. The fish was not fresh at all. If you are thinking about dinning at this restaurant, I'd suggest getting rolls and cooked food and stay away from anything raw. The service here were so so.
Good Rolls, HORRIBLE service
There are only a few times in my life where I have had such horrible service that I had to complain. Unlike the other times, where the staff sends apologies and offers to make amends- everyone had a severely unprofessional attitude at this restaurant. First, my friend and I were rushed to order (the waitress came back every two minutes, about four times and asked if we were ready- and it was an HOUR and a HALF before closing!). She put the bill on our table without asking if we wanted anything else. When we asked for another beverage she acted like we were putting her out. The entire staff glared at us like we were holding them up (closing time is 10, and it was only 9:30.) When we didn't pay right away, she came over- I reminded her that closing time wasn't until 10- she then told us that she had to "close the register." The bus boy brought over a box for leftovers and came back 5 minutes later to ask if we wanted him to put the food in the box for us. I told him that I would take care of it myself and he proceeded to tell me that he needed to wash the dishes- so he had to take our plates. The glares from the entire staff got worse. When I asked for the manager, to my surprise, it was our waitress. I told the bus boy I wanted to speak with her and he ignored me. On the way out, I told her the experience was awful and that we felt rushed through the entire dinner- she argued with me, saying she gave us plenty of time. Bottom line: The rolls were good, but that doesn't make-up for the lack of service in this establishment.
