Wow, who would've thought there'd be a special & innovative restaurant along Morena Blvd. It's set in the Design area of Morena. We saw a review in the San Diego Home & Garden Magazine & gave it a try. Well, we are now regulars. The staff is so friendly & welcoming - they are serious foodies. My kids & husband fell in love with the Red Velvet Pancakes on Sunday. Loved the Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict - the eggs were poached perfectly accompanied by well seasoned potatoes. My biggest pet peeve at restaurants is "bad potatoes," but not the case at Kitchen 4140. Another *must* is their Kobe Beef Burger or a Kobe Beef Patty Melt with Vintage Cheddar with Pimento on Toasted bread. They have wonderful salads & house made dressings. My new fav is the Lamb Bacon BLT - Chef came out & explained that they smoke it on site - WOW - Deliciousness in the mouth. We've also enjoyed their pastas - seasoned well with organic veggies. The ambiance is just special there. It is a family owned restaurant done right. You must try it, you will not be disappointed.
Super place. We had heard that Chef Kurt opened up his bistro. We had been to a few of his events through his other company Concept Catering by CK. The food is top notch. My friends and I hosted my B-day there recently and they were so welcoming. The food is innovative and delicious. The desserts had just been baked that day. You will really love the ambiance - modern and comfortable. Chef Kurt even came by our table to wish me a Happy B-day, what a treat!! We loved the organic garden out back. Definitely will be back.
