      Best meal

My friends and I ate at Marketplace Grille the other night, and it was the best meal I have had in a long time. They cook their food on a mesquite grill, which gave it a wonderful flavor, and they have a great wine list to choose from for dinner. The desserts were out of this world. We will definately be going back in the future.

      impressive

I think it is only fair to say that my experience at Marketplace Grille was a surprising one. I frequent the gaslamp often, but I tend to get bored of the same old thing. It just seems like there's nothing but overpriced Italian restaurants that differ in nothing but their names. I decided to give this place a try. I'm very glad I did. The food was amazing and I'm telling all my friends in downtown about it.

      Outstanding

freshest ingridents. Tasty food. great service. I had my company party over there and it was such a great experience. I'll be back.

      Excellent all around!

Better late than never! In San Diego on vacation end of April. Was recommended to go to the Marketplace Grille. Expectations were exceded. Owner was the kindest friendliest gentleman. Atmosphere was fancy, yet relaxed & comfortable. Food was impressive and very tasty! Friendly staff, nice neighborhood, close to everything downtown. We'll stop by again when we're in California. Thanks for the wonderful dinner.

      Strongly recommended!

The food was very good. The grilled king praws with angel hair pasta was oustanding!! The mediterranian dishes were exploded with rich smell and flavor of charchoal. They paired very well with the Ferrari Carano's sauvignon blanc that we ordered and the two Zinfandel (Rancho Zabaco and Dry Greek Vinyard) that I brought ($10 to have each bottle opened though). The waitress has an interesting personaltiy but was helpful overall. We sat there for hours and enjoyed watching the chefs grilling the food.

      Good food.

This place came highly recommended. The place was nice, good atmosphere, the waiter was respectful and responsible. I had the stuffed salmon special with risotto and vegetables while my date had the penne with salmon. Both were good, though my salmon was a tiny bit dry and the hollandaise could've used a bit more flavor. for the price, i would've chosen another menu item. Overall, good.

      good food, ok atmosphere

The long empty hallway type seating inside leaves something to be desired if you're looking for nice atmosphere, but the food made up for the so-so ambience. Not much for drink selection beside wine or beer. The food was tasty if not a little overpriced and the service was slow. Would probably go elsewhere next time.

      Extremely Disappointed

The review on this site raves about the Meditteranean/Persian cuisine, but be warned, it is apparently only Meditteranean, but at night it switches to Italian. And very expensive Italian at that. Overall, service was pretty good and the food was good, but definetly not worth the cost. And if you're looking for Mediterranean this is not the place.
