A bustling lunch crowd advertises the popularity of Niban Japanese Restaurant in Kearny Mesa and an outdoor patio makes it an enticing opportunity to get outside for a lunch break. It’s not uncommon to see a line out the door , and the friendly and attentive staff consistently delivers food quickly to the table, no matter the size of the crowd. Menu items are reasonably priced and along with weekly changing specialty rolls like the Spicy Scallop Roll, which are available for $5. All food is freshly prepared and curries, noodle dishes, bento boxes, as well as teriyaki bowls, round out the menu. Call in an order or sit at the bar area to watch as rolls are prepared by their master chefs.
Ever since I discovered this place 2 years ago it has been my favorite Sushi in San Diego. The food is always excellent, especially for the low prices. The service is a little slow, but comfortable and homey. The happy hour specials on beer can be dirt cheap. Everyone I take here loves it and is amazed at the price!
I frequent this restaurant for lunch at least once a month because the restaurant is close to my office. The food is not bad and for the price, it is a good value just dont expect anything fancy or high quality sushi. The service is hit or miss but in general very pathetic. You may get your food in five minutes or you may wait for 30 minutes to get your $5 sushi roll. So if you are on budget and dont mind the wait, poor service or the low quality food this is the place.
