    Anniversary

We stayed at "The Dell" for 3 days to celebrate our 44th anniversary. The Chief Concierge "Eddie" was fantastic and reserved a very special table at the Prince of Wales room. I had the $85 Kobe beef filet, expensive, but absolutely the best filet I have ever eaten. The wine list is made up mostly of inexpensive and terrible wines. AGAIN we called on the Chief Concierge "Eddie" who went off property somewhere in San Diego and was able to obtain the wine we wished for dinner, a new pinot noir by Duck Horn called Goldeneye, and a wonderful Pinot Noir called William Selyem, very had wines to find, very expensive, but for a 44th anniversary money was no limit. We tell this story because the manner we were cared for by the Hotel Dell, especially the Chief Concierge, "Eddie" and through him the management of the Prince of Wales room is how a very very special occassion should be handled. We loved the Dell, We loved the Prince of Wales room, and oh yes we thought the food was excellent, The dining room in the Prince of Wales is absolutely beautiful and warm. The servers are teaming together and hovering over your every need, they were great. We will return again

Great dining experience; a bit lacking on service

I took my girlfriend here for Valentine's Day and it was a memorable experience. The atmosphere has a cozy feel to it; if you do not get the tables, you may feel a little cramped as their is a fellow patron 2 feet next to you. Menu is great; the steaks entrees are better than what you get at Donovan's, etc. (quality and taste). Word of advice: do not plan on sharing dessert, GET YOUR OWN as the desserts are really, really tiny. In general, don't plan on dining here if you are going to be tight with your money; the food and drinks are pricey: $100 Kobe filet, $50 lobster, $12 petite desserts, and $10.50 martinis (which by the way, are presented in the most stunning and elegant fashion). Also, if you order wine, don't be stingy. Instead of ordering a cheap wine, which will RUIN your dining experience as it will kill the food, just order a call drink if you can't afford a good wine. If you want to impress a date, friends, guests, out-of-towners, or business associates, this is the place. Piano plays on most night. Only problem I had was service; it was not what I expected. Don't get me wrong, it was good but not great. But hey, you get TWO waiters. How nice...

    Pricey but worth it.

My parents were in town for a conference, staying at the Hotel Del. If they hadn't just signed a huge contract we couldn't have afforded the meal (!!), but it was delicious and the service was exemplary.
