Unbelievable!

From the outside- it looks like any other restaurant in a strip mall setting (Costa Verde). Once inside, you'll forget that you're across the street from UTC. Great service, great atmosphere for a romatic dinner or even a small business meeting. Prices are a bit high, but well worth it. Fish and chicken dishes are incredible and perfectly portioned. Desserts are excellent as well!

OUTSTANDING!

This must be by far the best restraunt I have been to! The ambience is awesome. The interior design have a nice classy feel. The wine list is definately superb for their own wine selection. It may be a tad pricy but the food makes up for it all! You may want to order an appetizer first because it takes awhile for entrees to be made but it is well worth it!!!! The food has excellent portions and the taste is just amazing!!! Roy's is defiantely #1 on my list overall. I will definately visit again soon!

Quality dinning!

Great quality food that goes with very courteous service - The menu consists of fewer than average number of items, and most are seafood based. Average plate looks like something you'd expect from gourmet food - warmed-up platter with your order sitting in a decorated pile in the center, all covered with a sauce. The only dissapointment was that it takes them a bit long to bring your order, but this means that they are actually making the freshest dishes and cooking everything as you order. The sauces they apparently make themselves - you won't get any standard flavors there. Average plate price is $25. Appetizers/salads for about $8. They also serve sushi. The wine selection is great. Waiters are very courteous - all dressed in black and purple, and you can see them hurrying to serve you as fast as they can. The menu is not as friendly - sides are not listed so you might as well just ask if it is rice or potatoes that you'll expect to find with your order. Atmosphere is quite social. The place looks very fine on the inside - lights are dimmed and the torches are quite visible through the windows. This would be a very good starting point if you want to impress your date or celebrate some small occasion.

Value with excellent food/ service do go together

We chose the prix fixe menu @ $30 which included an appetizer sampler of bbq rib, skewered shrimp and stuffed won ton...separately, the aloha roll was delicious.... main course we had the seared ahi (yummy) and a chocolate souffle for dessert. I'm stuffed.

Fantastic!

I have been to Roy's several times, with both client's and my husband. It has been outstanding every time. Service is wonderful. Staff is pleasant and knowledgable. I would recommend this place over and over again. Sure, it is somewhat pricy.....but then again you get what you pay for. There is definite value at Roy's.

OUTSTANDING

This is by far my favorite newly discovered restaurant! Impeccable wine list/service/and, of course, cuisine. Though the atmosphere is rather "busy", for the Chocolate Souffle' alone, it is sooo worth it!!!

My favorite

No matter what I get at this place, it always great. bring me another sake

Another great one

Tonight I did sushi. Roy's version of a rainbow roll was incredible as was the shrimp roll wrapped in kobe beef. My father in law ordered a lamb shank which was quite impressive. The chocolate souffle was its usual outrageous treat.

Always Good

Have eaten at the Roy's in Scottsdale and Palm Springs. Tried this Roy's for the first time last week. Have always enjoyed the service and the meal at Roy's. The different selection of seafood is always excellent.

Awesome!!!

I have been to Roy's in Kona, Kawaii, Vegas and La Jolla and I have always been amazed at how awesome the food and service is. It's not a cheap meal, but it's worth every penny. I suggest the seared ahi to start, the macadamia encrusted white fish (fish changes depending on location and season, ono in Hawaii) for dinner and you have to order the lava brownie thing for dessert. I have traveled a lot, eaten in many restaurants, but Roy's has continued to be my favorite restaurant in the world.

Awesome!

My husband and I absolutely LOVE Roy's. We've been to the one in San Diego and loved the food and the service very much. We liked it so much that even on our honeymoon, we decided to go to the one in San Francisco. The decor was different, but the food and service was just as amazing. I would definitely recommend people to go there-we've been there for every special occasion together!

SUPERB!

Superb! Everything was perfect. From outside - the restaurant doesn't look like anything special but inside... It's decorated smartly and with style. Even their uniform is unique. Food was just soooooooo good! All four of us ordered different things and all of our choices were just divine. Service was excellent, as good as it only can be, very professional! Absolutely amasing experience. From all San Diego restaurants - I'll recommend this one for sure.

Outstanding

My husband and I love this restaurant! It was my favorite when we lived in Hawaii and though the atmosphere isn't quite the same, it's still very nice and the food just as outstanding as ever. Try the miso glazed butterfish--to die for! This restaurant is worth every penny.

I love this place...

I went here for Valentines and the food was incredible. It is pricey, but it is worth it. Guys if you want to impress take her HERE!!!

Roy's tastes and service

We have eaten at Roy's in Hawaii( 2 islands),Phoenix and La Jolla. We enjoyed Roy's La Jolla They served us a seafood appetizer gratis at the bar with cocktails. The Ahi and butterfish, schrimp entrees were excellent. Beef satay and Aunt Lei's seafood roll were nicely prepared. Iur waiter and staff were attentive. Try their sake flight, you will really enjoy. BG

Outstanding Food

My boyfriend and I each ordered the three-course special. The perfect game plan! The portions were perfectly-sized so we each had just enough, and both our selections were just to die for. Since we're a young couple, I am afraid that we were not given the amount of respect from our waitor that the other couples were getting; our table was certianly not a great one. I recommend requesting a table by a window or something when you make your reservation.

Not what I thought

We went there we the idea that it would be very good dining. Mind you I have been to some of the best restaurants in San Diego and this one did not even come close. All the food we order were not good at all for a place that says they have good sauces I was disappointed. The only thing that I ordered that gave this review even 2 stars was the walo apptesizer. Other than that everything else was sub par. There signature dish the macadamina crusted mahi mahi was really dry and the lobster sauce was sub-par. The desserts were ordinary and cheap. We ordered every dessert on the menu and the only thing that was descent was the chocolate cake. The other hot fruit strudel tasted like olive gardens dessert and the other desserts I would have to say sucked. DONT ORDER THE BANNANA CREAM PIE lol that is a joke. Anyway dont go there it is over priced and the food is not that good....the only reason we tried it was because it was voted #4 on this site and I dont know how it can even come close to georges....but that is a different review........... Not that great...

Roy's was just decent. Nothing about the food was amazing enough to make it worth the prices. I ordered a white fish, and it was a bit bland. If you get a chance, go to Alan Wong's (only in Oahu) for some fabulous Hawaiian-inspired cuisine. Alan Wong's quality of food is what I was expecting from Roy's, but it couldn't even compare. Disappointing.

Small portions

I ate at the Roy's restaurant in Honolulu and I thought that for the amount of food that they served was not the worth the price of going there. The portions were quite skimpy and if this is the way that they served food in Honolulu which made me decide not to go to any more Roys restaurants here on the mainland. Once was ENOUGH
