Excellent food

Their food is very good. I love the panang curry with duck. Thats my fav dish. The hot basil with chicken is also good, but don't try them together... Also their soups are pretty decent. The service is also good.

Delicious

We were in for a little something different and we were NOT dissatisfied. GREAT food, good pricing. Only negative is atmosphere, tablea are crowded and conversation loud. Not for the romantics.

Excedes expectations

After reading the above posts we were skeptical. Everything was clean and the food was great. We had the curry chicken and the grilled red snapper with garlic sauce. I was impressed that the food was so healthy. Much better than the average Thai restaurant

Fresh food, boring menu.

Food is fresh, service is quick. Menu is boring. For something really tasty, try Celeadon across the street.

Taste of Thai

The Tast of Thai restaurant is a very good experience. Their food is not only delicious, but also inexpensive. The only bad point is that their food, although better than some, is not authentic, it is an "Americanized" version of Thai food.

not that great

waiters and bus boys were constantly trying to take dishes away even though we weren't done eating-gave the feeling that they wanted us cleared out ASAP so they could get more people in. Also the crispy duck pretty much sucked-smothered in a sauce and covered in frozen peas and square carrots. this is a taste of thai?!

canned vegetables meet canned cocanut milk

if you like your food with lots of sugar and meat of unknown origin, eat here. this place has gotton worse with age, everything tastes the same, the service is very uneven, one sits right on top of one's neighbor. last time we had beef, which was tough as leather. the shrimp was soggy. last two times there were things missing from our dishes, like brocoli, that should have been there and the waiter lost his fake smile all too quickly when i made mention. unless you demand a yuppie scene, leave this place and go to thai time on 30th, its much better. and you wont have pad thai noodles that taste like ketchup

Taste of Bad Service

I couldn't believe the service in this place! About 2 minutes after we were seated, the waiter spilled a tray full of drinks all over our table and onto both of my friends. The drinks stained one of their shirts and soaked the other's jeans. Since the table was covered in liquid we had to move tables. At the end of the meal, the waiter handed us the bill and expected us to pay the entirety, including our drinks. I told him that I wasn't going to pay for the whole meal so he talked to the manager. The waiter came back and told us to get a receipt for the dry cleaning and he would reimburse us for that. I couldn't believe it. We came in from out of town and the restaurant wouldn't even pay for half of the meal. What a joke! I'm giving them 1 star since the food was good.

Mediocre

Nice atmosphere is the first thing you notice, followed by lack of choices on the menu and bland food. Expensive for lunch as well.

Not as good as it used to be

I used to dine frequently at Taste Of Thai many years ago. I moved away and have recently moved back to San Diego. My coworkers and I had lunch at Taste of Thai last week, and it was bad. The service was fine, but I ordered the Pad Thai and it was only slightly warm and bland. My friend ordered Garlic beef and she didn't utter a word about it, so I figure she didn't like it. My other friend ordered chicken with peanut sauce and the appearance of it was quite unappetizing. Oh well, there are plenty of Thai restaurants around...

YUCK

We had lipstick on our glass, that should be the easiest part to clean on a cup..so they probably just rinsed it. there were little black particles floating around in our water, and what do you know! when we go back to the bathroom..they were taking the water straight from the faucet in the kitchen..the food was ALRIGHT..i've had better thai and lots cheaper..try THAIGO in Carmel Mtn..they also tried to rip us off by charging more thinking we wouldn't notice..it couldn't have been any more obvious since they wrote the right total down..then erased it..and wrote a down a higher price. i truly don't recommend this place. oh yeah..they're table cloths were soiled and had stains on them. YUCK

What Happened?

I have eaten here dozens of times over the last ten years and recommended this retaurant to everyone. On my most recent visit, the food was mediocre. The eggplant was in great mishapen chunks, some pieces not cooked and some overcooked. The springs rolls were not crispy and the ingredients were bland. The noodles reminded me of canned soup. The whole order was insipid, runny and bland. The service was ok. I hope they get their act back together. Maybe I just caught them on a really bad night.
