After the hustle and bustle of a busy week, The Fish Bucket offers reprieve from a stressful day. Tucked away in a Tierrasanta shopping area, The Fish Bucket is a quiet little eatery where locals come into relax and have some great food. With a nautical and vintage décor, customers are taken back to an older era of ocean blue and sailor-white elements reminiscent of sandy days out on the beach. Also a part of the oldies-but-goodies theme, 50’s music can be heard in the background as guests converse with friends and colleagues over some great American seafood. Outdoor seating is available if you want to enjoy your meal in the sunshine; there’s also a patio out front for shade. And if you want some fresh seafood to take home, The Fish Bucket has its fresh catch on display. The Fish Bucket only specializes in fresh seafood, so come prepared to enjoy a great meal at one of San Diego’s genuine seafood eateries.
Although the Fish Bucket IS NOT "Oceanaire", we had been going there once a week for almost a year. It is neighborhood (Tierrasanta) "hole-in-the-wall", and we were comfortable with it. The food is quite decent, and the place is "interesting". The service is adequate, and the (two) wait staff are congenial and "fun". The last time we went, the owner/maître d’ was rude to the point of abusive. Although always a bit "crusty", which was part of the charm of the place, he stepped WAY over the line, especially when insulting the two elderly ladies who were part of our party. It so bad that our waiter apologized to us for his demeanor and bad manners. Suffice it to say, we won't be back. The food, as I have said, is decent, if not quite good. The ambiance is "pier-side fish grill", and the rest of the staff are nice. I, personally, would not recommend this place to ANYONE. Although convenient, there are many alternatives...alternatives in which one is treated much more amicably and as a valued customer.
