Title: Poor Service, Average Food
- Review: My wife and I decided to try another Mexican restuarant in Old Town. Our favorite one was Casa De Bandini, which we frequented at least once a month for many years before it closed. They had to close because Old Town was completly revamped After eating there we have not found a good replacement. Based on the reviews, We decided to try El Agave. Upon entering the restaurant and seeing the multitude of tequila bottles decorated on the walls , both my wife and I got very excited and were anxious to try some of the tequila. However, when our waiter asked us what we would like to drink, he did not even suggest anything else but the House Margarita. Not only did he reluctly showed me the tequila menu after I requested it, but he did not even return later to ask if I wanted to try any. At this point, I knew we were in trouble. Based on his ambivalent attitute, my high expectations about dinner quickly diminished. Both my wife and I ordered seafood dishes, based on the waiters recommendations. The waiter brought my wife the wrong entree, Squid instead of shrimp. He returned within 10 minutes with the correct dish which was extremely bland. Basically boiled shrimp with some rice and beans in a watery orange juice-like sauce. My seabass entree tasted average with the seabass being overly cooked and dry. Based on the prices for the 2 entrees I expected better presentation and much more flavorful food. Both my wife and I have eaten in alot of mexican restaurants, and we both rate the food and service at this establishment very poorly. Definitely not recommended.
