My favorite place

Joe's is my favorite place to go on "date night" with my husband. We both love the Bar-B-Que crab. It is the best we have ever had. Soetimes the waiting time is a bit crazy, but it's worth it! We even have Joe's T-shirts.

Fun and Friendly

This place is one of our favorites to go to if we want to have a fun time. It is very laid back with an outgoing and fun atmosphere. The food is great too! (Pacific Beach location)

Dungeness BBQ Crab!

I have always ordered the BBQ Dungeness crab whenever I have gone to Joe's and more than once, the server has commented on how good the dish is. It is fabulously delicious and comes with red potatoes and a piece of corn on the cob. Keep in mind the restaurant is noisy and a good place for the kids to raise the volume. The dancing and singing by the serving staff is entertainment too!

Great food, Great View, Great Bartenders

Ok, went here twice in my 5 day trip to San Diego. First time we grabbed lunch on the patio. Great view of the ocean. Awesome server, her name escapes my mind, but she was upbeat and cool. We returned later on that night for the 2.50 Corona's. (Thursday) 11 corona's, 2 jager bombs, and 2 shots later, we're smashed, have learned that Stacey is a huge beer pong player with an official pong along table, and a whole lot more about PB in SD in general. We closed the place down and the tab was less than 60 dollars a person with tip. Great place to grab a bite or a beer, or two, or 11.

What a fun place!

This was the only 'chain' restaurant we went to on our trip. The food was great, service too. It was fun, fast and filling. Just what we needed after being on a plane for hours.

Good spot to eat

Very casual and price for food wasn't bad. We had a drink in a fish bowl which my wife and I shared. I recommend it when you want a place to sit back, relax and enjoy some seafood.

JOE'S IS THE GREATEST

Joe's Crab Shack Restaurant ia a great place to relax and have a great meal - The patio is gerat for a Sunday afternoon the crab dip is stellar !!!! Gerat wait staff !!!!!!!!!!!

Good fun

Joe's Crab Shack is a loud, fun, and very low-key place to hang out. The food is unpretenious and good. This place can get crowded so arrive early.

Avoid the Wait...

Make reservations first! This is one of the few casual theme restaurants that takes reservations. You may still have to wait for a few minutes, but you'll certainly wait less than you would w/o reservations. The food is a bit pricey but the BBQ crab is the best. Enjoy!

Fun But Stinky

The food was better than average, and the service was a lot of fun. However, the dining area had a lingering scent of old gym sock. I suppose it was the damp air and seafood, but it was a turn off. The food, drinks, service and reasonable prices were what saved the experience for me. I would recommend it for a large group, but not for intimate dining.

Ehhhh....

It's a fun atmosphere, but the food is just ok. I've been to the Mission Valley location and it was ok, but nothing special. Not a bad place to go with family or friends, but I wouldn't suggest taking a date there.

Mediocre

I was here for a family dinner and was not impressed. We were seated in an awkward area (I guess due to our group size)right in the middle of an open area with heavy foot traffic. The food is mediocre and not worth the price. I would suggest going to a non chain restaurant instead. The atmosphere is also forced and somewhat cheesy.

Music too loud

Nice place to get some crabs especially if you have kids. Costumers and servers stood in the middle of the restaurant doing the hokey-pokey. The music was way too loud. Not too expensive, $65 for 1 appetizer, 2 meals 2 soft drinks and 1 dessert.

Eat at Joes?

Substandard seafood and dancing...though strangely sad and amusing. Go for the kids not for yourselves.

Poor service

We had reservations for 7:30pm and were not seated till after 8pm. I had told a hostess and our waitress that it was my daughter's birthday and it was forgotten. Food was good but way over priced! Won't be returning any time soon!

Joe's Crap Shack

We were really disappointed. The atmosphere looked fun and inviting, but the service was poor and the food was way overpriced for what you got. We ordered snow crab and for about $26 that's basically all you get. Oh, unless you count the boiled bag of potatoes and corn, which was partially cold and had no flavor. No bread, no salad, no nothing. The waitress was rather rude and we had trouble getting her attention when we needed something because she was so busy talking to diners she apparently knew. It was the first time we paid $70 for a meal and came away still very hungry. Never again. Go somewhere else. Value is poor here.
