Benihana

The first Benihana opened in 1964, introducing traditional Japanese cuisine to the United States. Now with locations world wide, the hibachi steakhouse serves 'teppanyaki' cooking, with performing chefs preparing and serving chicken, steak, and seafood dishes right in front of guests. Guests are invited to dine at a shared table, and the live preparation of their dishes is both appetizing and memorable, adding a new twist to your average dinner. Dine on delicious entrees such as Colossal Mango Shrimp, Hibachi Chateaubriand, Salmon Tsutsumi-Yaki, and other mouthwatering seafood and meat dishes. In addition, Benihana offers a variety of fresh sushi and other Japanese favorites. Considered as a great place for special events, parties, or even a romantic dinner, Benihana Restaurant is a memorable dining experience worth the try.

yum

Every time we eat at Benihana's it is great. The hibachi shrimp and lobster is so good. The service is unique and entertaining. The food is fresh and flavorful. A little pricy but well worth it

So much fun

The only bad thing about this restaurant happens to be a good thing. They feed you way too much. It is hard the get parking here in Old town, but they have cheap (3 dollars + tip) valet parking so no worrys. The environment is always superb and you are always treated like roalty. Of course being a Japanese steak house, you are treated to much entertainment by the chef while he cooks for you just inches away. They usually start with your appetizes which im my case is usually an order of dragon rolls (yum). You are treated to miso soup and the chef will cook you rice in the form of fried or steamed. The fried rice is of ample servings and usually has shrimp in it, but the chef will ask you. My favorite dish is pretty much anything with noodles, but after the appetizers, rice, soup and shrimp, I never have room for anything else and pick at my food until they offer desert. The green tea ice cream is interesting to say the least but it must be an aquired taste seeing as how I have never been able to care for it much. Good place to go for your birthday, they will sing the little birthday song to you providing you with pleanty of embarassment and take your picture for you. You are also presented with your birthday pineapple... doesnt sound too interesting, but I have never in my life tried a pineapple so sweet and soft and I would love to know their secret of where they get them from. One of my all time favorite restaurants and will jump at any oppurtunity to go there for some good memories and dining.

Love!!

My dad and stepmom took me here for my birthday last year. There was a long line to be seated (despite having a reservation), but the food (and show) was well worth it. Their Blue Tsunami Punch was also good. It had a low alcohol content and I probably could've finished it off on my own without any help from my dad and stepmom. What I did drink from it wasn't even enough to get me buzzed and it was full of flavor. Would def. recommend it.

Friendly Service, Fesh Food

Although the "show" makes this place a bit too expensive, it's more than just a tourest trap. The sushi is fresh and good with decent pricing. The lunch specials are a very good deal as well. The fact that this site rates the food quality higher for O-Nami than Benihana is rediculous. O-Nami's sushi is starving for flavor and the majority of their choices just aren't that good (Even for a buffet).

always a good time

Great food, great service.. Excellent sushi. we visit often: spicy crab rolls and spicy Las vegas rolls, are delicious. Even My 9 year old loves their sushi. I usually dont get so lucky with sushi. Sushi you can walk in and be seated right away. The grill?? You should probably have reservation, however I have found if you show up by 5pm and they are full, they still usually can get you seated at the grill within about 15 min. Not too bad.

Fun dining experience

Benihana is a great special-occasion restaurant - a little too expensive and too overpowering for everyday. Your dinner is prepared in front of you at the table by a chef who also clowns, juggles, jokes, and entertains. The food is excellent. My favorites are steak and lobster but they also have have chicken, vegetarian, etc. The drinks are mediocre, but who needs them, when the place itself will put you in a party mood? If you are put off by the price for dinner, consider going for lunch which is scaled down and much cheaper.

focus on the food

I liked the food more than the show (if it can be called a show). Overall, it was a nice experience. If the price was a bit more within reason, it would have been a great experience.

???

I went to Benihana a year ago but have decided to write this review now because I'm confused as to why people continue to go to this restaurant. The food is not over the top good and the staff seems to be lacking in friendliness. I might go again and try to blame it on bad timing the first time.

Overrated

The company I work for took us all (a party of eighteen) to eat lunch at Benihana. Afterwards many of us commented on how the food lacked favor and how the portions were very small, except for the rice, you get a lot of that. I personally wouldn't return to Benihana. It's over priced and overrated.

Horrible

Me and my family patranized Benihana in Plymouth Meeting and the service wasnt great. Myself and sister ordered the Steak and Chicken dinner for two, which was $45.00. The Chef prepared a steak for each of us and split a chicken breast between two adults... I couldnt believe it!!! The appetizer shrimp was so few. I dont know why we were so short handed at this restuarante. I didnt want to make a big deal about the situation because we were out for a celebration. DONT GO THERE!!!!!
