Charming little pub

First of all, the name says it all: this place is a pub, if you're looking for fine cuisine search elsewhere, if you're looking for some tasty "pub grub" this place is great. (I have no idea why this site says that reservations are recommended.. it's extremely laid back, not only have I never, ever had a reservation going here, I've never even been shown to a seat, it's always seat yourself) For the most part the food is average, with a few exceptions... the burgers are pretty good, but the blackened pacific salmon ceasar salad is Delicious! But what keeps me coming back to this place time and time again are the bloody marys. I wish i could somehow get the recipe as they are the BEST BLOODY MARYS YOU WILL EVER HAVE. Another note: It is a british pub, so their draft beer is a bit limited, obviously to mostly imported stuff. This site also says the Princess Pub is best for dining alone, which I also don't get. I mean it is an excellent place to dine alone, but it's also a great place to hang out with friends and have a few pints. My girlfriend and I spend many afternoons sitting on their patio enjoying some drinks and chatting. If nothing else, just come here to get a bloody mary... you won't regret it.

GREAT PUB

Been to the Princess Pub many times. Always a great time, the staff is the BEST! The beer and drinks are overpriced. The food is great pub grub, try the fish and chips, fish tacos, sliders or the salads. The customers are great too, I meet folks from all over. The smoking patio is the only one around, a smoke and a beer and watching the lovely ladies go by....what a place! The evenings on the weekends are always a good time. Also, they are also a sports bar, watch the Chargers or other events on various flat screens around the place. If you have not gone...GO!!

Too hot in here..

The food is average, but the drinks are good. However, during the summer it gets to stuffy and crowded in there. They needs some air conditioning. Also, one time when I went there with a group of friends, the waitress was very unattentive and took 30 minutes to get one drink. We spent more time there waiting for our drinks...but I think it was that particular day/waitress because the second time the waitress was very good.

Overpriced!

I live in Little Italy, so this is the best local spot for drinks with my friends. I just wish it wasn't so overpriced! Over $6 for a pint of beer? 'Happy' hour is only $1 off, not very happy... The food is good for what it is: comfort food (FRIED), the cocktails are a little on the weak side for $7 to $10. I have to admit I really enjoy the service here. The waitresses always remember me and are very friendly. If it weren't for the great staff and the convenience to my home I don't think I'd come here as often as I do.

Go for brew and darts. Dine elsewhere.

MOLD in my drink, weak drinks, worst service

I am originally from Oxford England but have resided in San Diego for over 10 years now. So I thought checking out the Princess Pub would be fun and maybe bring back some memories of home. Little did I know that it would turn out to be one of the worst bars I have ever been to with the worst service I have ever received.

I started the night out with one of the beers they had on tap and it had a funny after taste that wasn't beer and the glass was dirty. But it wasn't a big deal so I ditched my beer and went to get another drink. I was with at least 7 other people ordering drinks it was loud and semi crowded and I yelled to the bar tender vodka RedBull please!

He later came back with 3 or 4 drinks and I didn't see my drink so I waited and the only drink left was a red colored drink that turned out to be a vodka cranberry. So I said to the bar tender I think there may have been a mistake I ordered a vodka redbull. He said " No you didn't you ordered a vodka cranberry" and walked away( I have never ordered a vodka cran in my life!).

I waited because even though he was rude I thought he would at least re-make my drink.. he never did. So a nice gentleman I was with went up to the bartender and asked to order a vodka redbull and asked why he wouldn't remake it and he simply said "that drink is already paid for if you want a vodka redbull you will have to buy one for $7.50". So he bought it to save us the trouble of arguing with this A hole.

I begin to drink it and I kid you not there was not a drop of vodka in my drink. I take a few more sips and a lump of somethings appears in my mouth and clogs the straw. This is disgusting... I take the lump of whatever out of my mouth and discover its a black MOLD and I look at the bottom of my drink and it there is more lumps floating in my drink.

I'm not sure if this man did it on purpose but he didn't care when I told him about it. A nice cocktail waitress later got me a new drink and apologized. I will never ever go back again. After talking to others about my experience I have found that I am not the only one to have a experience like this. I have two words for the Princess Pub..HEALTH INSPECTOR.

No No No

Well, what can I say? This place had a bad feel from the beginning and I should have followed my instincts. We sat at the bar for a pint and some food. The beer was as good as an over priced beer could get and that was the only highlight. The food was some of the worst bar food I have ever had. The old saying about British food being tasteless and overcooked followed true with this outrageously priced bangers and mash plate I ordered and my friends nachos were no more than dog food. This was not the reason that I have decided to write this review. This review is to all my proud fellow Homosexuals and advocates. Nearing the end of our meal I overheard a man in his mid 50's with gray hair and a British accent blatently commenting on how he felt about our pride movement here in San Diego. I will not get into the details of what he said, however it was not condoning. After a few minutes of this banter I asked a very nice female bartender if she knew this individual. Now for the shocker . . . this biggot was the owner of this pub. Openly bashing his customer is not a good way to get us in there. If you have any sense you will stay away from this place and its bad karma. Shame on you Princess Pub.
