Review: Arrogant wait staff and manager! Service was very slow and indifferent during a near-empty dining room dinner in May '08. I ordered the Prik Khing, a curry dish with snow peas, because I love snow peas and they're fairly expensive in stores. About 40 minutes later, a sad looking curry dish arrived. But instead of my much-anticipated snow peas, the dish was full of low quality, pathetic green beans! What's this: bait and switch in a restaurant? After several conversations with both the waitress and the manager, I was frustrated because they refused to do anything about it. They also were lying to me because they told various stories about why green beans were in the dish. The waitress flat out said that the restaurant had switched to green beans awhile ago and that nobody complained. She also admitted that the menu had not been corrected. Title: Yuk!! Worst Thai In San Diego!!

Review: My wife and I love Thai cuisine. There are several nice Thai restaurants in the San Diego area; none that compare with Asia, but Royal Thai is not one of them. We dined at RT in early Feb, 2006. I had the Volcano Chicken and my wife had a shrimp and vegable dish. The chicken was so tough and dry that you literally could not cut it with the knife provided. The sauce tasted like cheap vinegar. The shrimp dish arrived cold. Service was so so, but tolerable. The food was in edible; we ate when we got home. What a waste. Avoid this one at all costs.

Review: My wife and I are vegeterians and selected this restaurant because of its Vegetarian menu. The spring rolls were good. We ordered sweet and sour mock meat, which was horrible and smelled like urine, and tasted as probably what urine tasts like, we spent $25 on food we pretty much threw away.

Review: Thai food is supposed to be exciting, exotic, hot and delicious. Royal Thai doesn't serve that up. The service is terrible; I'm fairly certain there were only three people working in the restaurant the entire night. We nearly had to go to the kitchen to pay our check and over half the workers don't speak any English, which might suggest the food would be authentic and great. Not the case. First, it came out in shifts and was of average quality. The spring rolls were good, but it is pretty hard to mess up a tiny eggroll. I would definitely suggest trying elsewhere. One thing you won't ever have to worry about at Royal Thai, getting a table. There's always one available.

Review: The food was pretty good. The atmosphere was pretty nice, though a bit quiet (which is fine) in downtown la jolla. The price was average. Sorry, it's been a long time, i wish i could be more descriptive.

Title: don't make the hike!

Review: we were dyin' for some thai, so we walked up to pearl street for lunch from the village.... the restaurant was almost empty, but the one and only server was in such a sullen mood, that he acted like he was doing us a favor to serve us! we almost jumped up and served ourselves water.... as our glasses were empty most of the time... the food was okay, but not worth it, and the restaurant itself was dirty and tired.... try somewhere else, and i'm sure you'll do better!
